 And the winners are… – W3 Algorand Hackathon

The culmination of the Blockchain hackathon held on April 27th was the award ceremony, where the winners were announced for their achievements. The first, second, and third-place winners, from both the University of Belgrade and the University of Florida, were presented with prizes for their outstanding projects, which demonstrated the creative and practical use of blockchain technology.

Winners from the University of Belgrade:

1st place – team Web 4 (Septian Mudin, Luka Šević, Lena Radmilović) – mentor Petar Lukovac

The objective of the project is to create a decentralized application that will enable stakeholders in the coffee value chain to track coffee beans’ movement from the farmer to the roaster, ensuring transparency and accountability.

2nd place – team Fashion code (Aleksandra Trpkov, Danica Sovtić, Milica Spaić) – mentors: Professor Aleksandra Labus and Petar Lukovac

The goal of the project is to develop an application for end-users that will allow customers to track the origin of the product. The application will provide information on the percentage of cotton, elasticity, and quantity of the product that will be available for purchase.

3rd place – team EasyHealth (Milica Tomić, Ksenija Fratrić, Ana-Marija Đurić) – mentors: Professor Aleksandra Labus and Petar Lukovac

The goal of this project is the development of a blockchain-based healthcare ecosystem and the proposal of a healthcare business model, and the development of an application for the patient that allows him to quickly test for the COVID-19 virus based on a blood sample.

Winners for the University of Florida:

1st place – team GlasChain (Gabrielle Christie, Maylen Casa,l Alexander Olson, Sean Durkin) – mentor Professor Markus Santoso

The goal was to design and create a Web-3 Algorand Blockchain-based mini-game that would help improve cognitive function in an individual by providing memory training games designed to improve problem-solving skills, as well as visual recognition, attention, memory, focus, and concentration.

2nd place – team Gator Hackers (Savannah Traub, Austin Fernandez, Christopher Truta, Katrina Das, Karis Dunnam) – mentor Professor Markus Santoso

This project represents a 3D first-person target-shooting platformer game called Cosmic Combat. It will leverage web3 technology to enable players to earn cryptocurrency rewards for completing levels and achieving high scores.

3rd place – team Silly Little Team (Tsehai de Souza, Ky’mani Brown, Kinnara Bosworth, Juno Strunk, Zhuoang Cai) – mentor Professor Markus Santoso

Universal Harvesters is a play-to-earn farming game. When the player levels up, they will receive a farmer fact. These facts are meant to raise awareness of the plight of American farmers.

The winners of special prizes:

In addition to the top three winners, there were four special awards presented in specific categories. The Business Model Award recognized the team that developed the most innovative and practical business model for their project. The Smart Contract Award was given to the team that developed the most efficient and well-designed smart contract for their solution. The NFT Award recognized the team that created the most interesting and creative use of NFTs in their project. Finally, the Audience Award was given to the project that received the most votes from the audience members who voted via social networks.

Special award in the business model category – team 4Chainz – mentor Milica Simić

Vertlog project provides users with a platform that raises awareness about environmental and humanitarian causes. On the website, users can browse and purchase NFTs that represent their support for these causes. The project also consists of a mobile game, Trashy River, that not only promotes environmental awareness but also showcases the users’ purchased NFTs.

Special award in the smart contract category – team Grand Slam – mentor Aleksa Miletić

This project aims to create a blockchain-based anti-money laundering system of citizen payment transactions that can identify and prevent suspicious transactions. The system is implemented in practice as an application that has two types of users with different functionalities: citizens and inspectors.

Special award in the NFT category – team fashionblock – mentors: Professor Aleksandra Labus and Petar Lukovac

This project represents the application of the methodology for creating NFT fashion projects, covering each step-in detail. The steps involved include minting a collection of 3D fashion items and selecting appropriate target groups, as well as the elements necessary for the appropriate market to launch NFT collections.
